BJOERN DAEMPFLING

FISCHTRAUM

by BJOERN DAEMPFLING

This image was created in its first phase with the Computer of my brother-in-law, because in 1997 my software "Painter" was still too demanding for my own machine. It is the first major digital image I created within nine months of daily work only with a new computer, the software "Painter" and an electronic drawing board, after having visited the world's largest computer fair Cebit, where I bought my equipment. It is pretty obvious, that 15 years of skin diving, every year for a couple of weeks in Norway and with heavy wet suits of course, have left there marks in this baroque composition, as well as enjoying all kinds of visual puzzles, the creation which was fostered by the spontaneous access to all kinds of materials thanks to the digital production technique. There so many images in this image, that it takes time as well as a lot of attention to get them. And the dedicated onlooker will notice that not everything colorful is joyful and will realize that with changing viewing direction the same part of the image offer very different images. Fischtraum (Dream of the Fish) was also printed as an official poster for the Deutsche Meeresmuseum Stralsund (German Oceanic Museum Stralsund).
