NEWSPAPER ROCK

by JOHN VAN NATTER

Located in Indian Creek Canyon, Utah, News Paper Rock is an 8 by 20 foot panel filled with hundreds of petroglyphs dating back about 2000 years. Known to the Navajo as Tse' Hane or 'Rock that tells a story', unfortunately no one knows how to interpret the petroglyphs so the story remains hidden to modern viewers. This location was favored by native peoples and Anglo settlers who traveled through what is now southeastern Utah . Ancient Archaic Basket Maker, Ancestral Publeoan, Fremont and native Navajo and Ute peoples, along with Anglo settlers left a treasure of art work on this desert varnish covered section of Wingate sandstone. It is very impressive to see. On silk it becomes a fascinating piece of art, photography, history and fashion. Available in a limited edition of 125.
Certificate of Authenticity is included.
