ARTIST-HEALER
Painting has been a healing process for me.
I work spontaneously responding to intuition and a deep sense of connection
to animals and the gift they give us. You can view the surface or delve into the
symbolic world beneath, a tapestry of goddess forms, animal spirits and archetypal
images. I hope my art touches your heart and inspires your creativity.
I am Australian born but a creature of the Universe and started my career
painting fantasies on interior walls in London.
Although untrained, my fascination with texture and medium led me to
apprenticeships in Italy & Guernsey and a course in Chinoiserie brush
techniques at Beijing University, China. At this time my strongest influence
was French Surrealism, a style which led me to question my own perception of
reality. On a visit to San Francisco I found myself strongly drawn to a group
of artists based in Sausalito. Rousseau-like, their wildlife fantasias reconnected
me with my own inner Universe, and so began my visionary journey into art.
In the early '90s I began painting on canvas and found the influences from my past
allowed me to express the colourful surreal imagery of my inner world.
I have exhibited in USA, UK and Australia and been represented in various magazines.
Today my work continues to explore the transformative process of healing art, drawing
on the transpersonal for self-understanding, personal growth and the knowledge that
creativity, health and spirit are related on a deep level.
It is the wisdom gained from this suffering that gives us the capacity to heal ourselves,
each other and the Planet. Therefore isn't healing about compassion, not authority and expertise?
