Flowers and gardening have always been central to my life. My family has been in the landscaping and florist business in Schenectady, N.Y. since the late 1800's,
so I grew up with the beauty and smells of flowers and developed a passion for gardens and gardening. As a teenager, I found a corner in my grandfather's greenhouse
to propagate plants for my parents' gardens. Since then, I have always had gardens around my personal home for my enjoyment and now for my photography.
The lotus is central to my photography. It is an elegant flower with vast history in the arts and cultures. I take digital photos and adjust them with software
to achieve abstract montages. These montages include flowers, as well as buildings and sculptures from Cornell University and travels. My artwork is available at
my website, www.nancyridenourartist.com.
I am delighted to now be able to offer it on limited edition silk scarves.
